During a conversation with a group of people working with the Lord’s Prayer Course, the question arose: “Can we pray for forgiveness for all the attrocities that have occurred and continue to occur on this planet, the memories of which are stored in the Earth?” In response to this question and the enthusiasm from those present, “Forgiveness as a Spiritual Deed for the World” is in formation.
Forgiveness is the primary virtue and guiding principle needed for healing our world. It is among the most pressing spiritual concerns of our time and has the potential to be of immeasurable significance as a seminal method of furthering human evolution. Due to its potential to transmute karma, forgiveness plays a unique role in human relations and the world karma of humanity. The whole organism of the earth suffers from every immoral and harmful deed perpetrated by humans, and as individuals every such act we commit affects the whole earth. The Earth cannot continue to progress in its evolutionary path under the accumulating weight of humanity’s transgressions.
